Interior: Inside, the 5 bar magneto is marked "American Electric", and phone will ring at the turn of the crank. The switch hook is unmarked and correct, and it has the shield cut out in the ends. The ringer is old. There are no batteries in the box.

Item 0837 is an American Electric double box style wood wall phone. It is made of quarter-sawed oak. The overall condition of both the wood and the finish is good to fair. The left front edge of the shelf part of the battery box has been repaired. four patched holes and one split. See pictures. The phone is well marked. It has a repro metal tag on the door of the top box that reads: "American Electric Tel. Co. Manufactured Chicago Independent System". This is the correct tag for the phone. The lightening arrestor is correct. The bells are steel but have been painted black. The receiver is old and unmarked. The transmitter is marked and reads: American Electric Tel. Co. Chicago Patented. " It is correct for the phone. The mouthpiece is old. The receiver cord is old and is a good black & red cord. The phone has a 4-bar unmarked magneto. The phone rings when cranked if receiver is in "hung up" mode and shunt button on left side of top box is pushed simultaneously. Both the switch and the ringer are unmarked and correct for the phone. American Electric “Swing Away Arm” oak doublebox is in good condition, and the finish is poor.  The two top screw holes in the bachboard have been patched.  The battery box is a reproduction by Art Hyde (respected woodworker in the telephone clubs who supplies made to order wooden replacement parts).  The backboard is correct for the phone.  The top box is correct and marked American Electric with a metal tag on the front door.  The receiver is correct and has a marked cap.  The transmitter is correct and marked “Gold Electrode, American Electric.”  The mouthpiece is old, and the cord is new.  Inside, the 5 bar magneto rings and has the shield shaped name plate.  Both the switch hook and the ringer are unmarked and correct for the phone.   The switch hook has th4e shield cut ou6ts.  The batterybox is a reproduction.  There are 2 glass battery jars in the box.

Item 2665 is an American Electric 2 box type wood wall phone. It has what is called a "Swing-A-Way" transmitter arm. The transmitter can be swung right, left, up and down to suit the user. The phone is made of quarter-sawed oak. The overall condition of both the wood and the finish is good. There is a hairline glue joint separation at the top of the backboard about one inch long. The hole in the switchook is shaped like a shield-vintage American electric. The phone has a new battery box made of quarter-sawed oak to the same size and shape of the original by a professional cabinetmaker. Identification is excellent. There is a metal nametag on the door that reads "Independent System American Electric Telephone Co. Manufacturers Chicago". The lightening arrestor is the "Hitching Post" style correct for this phone. The bells are nickel. The receiver is old and unmarked. The transmitter is marked "American Electric Tel. Co. Patented". The mouthpiece is old. The receiver cord is old. The phone has a 4-bar unmarked mag and it rings when cranked if the receiver is in the "Hung-Up mode. All bars are chrome. Both the switch and the ringer are unmarked and are correct for the phone.

The receiver has a repro shell, and the cap is marked Stromberg Carlson. The transmitter is correct and marked. The mouthpiece is a repro, and the cord is new. There are some repaired blemishes on the edge of the top box backboard. The phone has a very unusual early nametag on the door that reads: "Central telephone and electric company St. Louis Missouri". The phone has an unusual 3 red bar mag. The battery box is new. It is made of quarter-sawed oak by a professional cabinetmaker and is the same size and shape as the original. The joints are tongue and groove just like the original. The lightening arrestor is correct. The bells are brass. The receiver is old and unmarked. The transmitter is marked "Central telephone and electric Co. long distance transmitter St. Louis Mo". The mouthpiece is new. The receiver cord is new. There is 1 patched hole in the backboard in the center left behind the battery box. The backboard is split along a glue line starting at the bottom edge and is about 9 inches long. See the dark area on the door. The backboard and top box are both correct for the phone. The top box has a metal tag marked Chicago, and the switch hook is the correct and "early type". The lightening arrestor is the early Chicago type, complete w/fuses. The magneto is correct with laminated magnets; the phone rings at the turn of the crank. The receiver is old and is marked Kellogg. The mouthpiece and the receiver cap are both repros. The cord is new.The transmitter arm is cast iron with the coil in the base. The transmitter is unmarked but imprinted "879218L." The cup is marked Stromberg with a serial #. The battery box is old and correct for the phone. IItem #195 is an oak Chicago glass front doublebox phone in good condition; the finish is poor. The phone has the marked transmitter "Chicago Genuine Solid Back, Chicago Telephone Supply Co. Elkhart Ind. USA." The arrestor is fitted with the correct fuse type, and the bells are brass. The receiver is correct for the phone and has 2 longitudinal cracks in the shell. The transmitter is correct and marked as above; the arm is correct. The mouthpiece is a repro, and the cord is new. Inside, the 6 bar magneto is fitted with laminated chrome bars and rings at the turn of the crank. Both the switch hook and the ringer are unmarked and correct for the phone. Unbeknownst to us, the switch hook that came in the phone was broken; when we discovered this, we repaired/replaced the switch hook. Some of the pictures posted for item #195 show the "broken" switch hook; two new pictures have been taken of the repaired/replaced switch hook. **please note the 2 pictures marked "REVISED FEATURE" are pictures of the repaired/replaced switch hook. This Chicago Telephone Supply Co. double box phone is made of quarter sawn oak; the wood is in poor condition and the finish is poor.  There is 1 patched hole in the backboard edge near the receiver.  There are 2 patched holes on the left side of the backboard behind the battery box.  There is 1 patched hole in the center of the backboard behind the battery box; there are 2 patched holes in the right side of the backboard behind the battery box.  There is 1 patched hole on the right side of the battery box above the shelf.  The edge of the backboard is split at transmitter level and the backboard is starting to separate at 2 glue joints at the bottom edge (Left center 3”; right center 2”)(see pix of all of these areas).   The top box has a metal nametag on the door and a paper tag inside.  The magneto has 6 red magnets and rings at the turn of the crank.  The lightening arrestor is comprised of two GLASS fuses. The transmitter is marked Chicago; and is of a beveled edge style; it is damaged in two places (see pix).  The front of the battery box has a split glue joint the whole length of the box.  One panel on the left side of the box is bowed slightly, and there is one patched area at the corner joint.  The bottom of the battery box has separated at a glue joint.  The shelf has 10 patched (nail?) holes along the line where the shelf attaches to the front of the box. The phone rings when cranked if receiver is in "hung up" mode. The transmitter is marked and reads: "Eureka electric Co. Chicago U.S., A". It is correct for the phone. Both the switch and the ringer are unmarked and are correct for the phone. The battery box is old. The front panel has been re-glued in place and held there while drying by some very small finishing nails rather then by clamps.

Eureka "Local & Long Distance Telephone oak double box.  All of the wood appears old except the shelf which is newer than the rest of the phone.  The top edge of the backboard is starting to split in one place (see pix); the lower edge is starting to split in 3 places (about 1 inch each).  There is one repaired hole near the left battery box mounting screw; there are 2 repaired holes near the right upper mounting screw.  The backboard of the top box is starting to split on a glue line; the split is about 6 inches in length.  There is a split in the right side panel of the top box on a glue line along its entire length.    There is a metal name tag on the door of the top box; inside is a 4 bar magneto with nickel plated bars; the magneto rings at the turn of the crank. The receiver is unmarked and seems to have black paint splatters on it in places.  The beveled transmitter faceplate is marked “Eureka.”   The battery box has a rectangular “cut out” (1’ x ¼ “) in the left side panel of the battery box; this area has been repaired sometime in the past.  The front panel of the box is  split the entire length on a glue line.  There are two batteries in the box.

The 5 bar magneto has been repaired; two magnets have been replaced with Holtzer-Cabbott magnets. The ringer and switchhook are both correct for the phone. The receiver is a WE pony which has a 1.5 inch crack in the shell; it is marked on the tip cap, but the ear cap is not a WE brand. The transmitter has been repainted, and is correct for the phone. This Stromberg Carlson double box phone (with single cell battery) is oak and is in good + condition.  The finish is in good - condition.  There are no holes or patches.  There is a paper tag with # inside.  The backboard is correct and unmarked.  The top box is correct and unmarked.  Inside, the magneto is correct and marked Stromberg Carlson.  Both the ringer and switch hook are correct for the phone.  The receiver is correct and is marked Stromberg Carlson.  The transmitter is correct had has a marked cup; there is a number card holder attached to the transmitter.  The mouthpiece is old and the cord is new.

Stromberg Carlson oak doublebox is in very good condition and the finish is good- (probably could use refinishing). The bottom edge of the backboard is damaged; it looks like glass battery jar fluid may have leaked sometime in the past???    The backboard is correct and old.  The magneto is correct and marked Stromberg Carlson, and rings at the turn of the crank.  The early ringer is correct as is the switch hook.  The receiver is marked Stromberg Carlson and has the old metal ring with a repro bakelite shell.  The transmitter is correct for the phone and the cup is marked.  The mouthpiece is a repro and the cord is new.  The battery box is new and was made to the specifications of the phone. (Battery box supplied by Art Hyde, a respected woodworker and member of the telephone clubs).  There are no batteries in the box.

There is one split two inches long at the bottom left of the backboard at a glue joint. The top box is correct and marked with a metal tag; the arrestor is correct, and the bells are brass. The transmitter is correct for the phone and has a beveled edge; the arm is cast iron with the coil in the base. The mouthpiece is a repro, and the cord is new. Inside, the five bar mag is unmarked, has chrome bars, and rings at the turn of the crank. Both the switch hook and the ringer are correct and unmarked. There are no batteries in the box.

Item 3250 is a Western Telephone Construction 2 box style wood wall telephone. It is made of quarter-sawed oak. The overall condition of both the wood and the finish is good. The phone has an unusual twin magnet ringer. The battery box is new having been made of quarter sawed oak by a professional cabinetmaker to the same size and shape of the original. The phone is extremely well marked. It has a metal ID tag on the door that reads "Western Telephone Company Chicago Ills." The thumbwheel is also marked the same way. The transmitter is also marked "Western Telephone Construction Company Chicago." The lightening arrestor is correct. The bells are nickel. The receiver is old and unmarked. The transmitter arm is cast iron coil in the base with exposed terminals type correct for this phone. The mouthpiece is old. The receiver cord is new. The phone has a 5 bar unmarked red magneto. The phone rings when cranked if the receiver is in the "hung-up" mode. Both the switch and the ringer are correct for this phone. The switch is most unusual and mounted on the right side of the top box.

The arrestor is correct, and the bells are nickel. The receiver is old and is marked Kellogg. The transmitter is correct for the phone and is marked. the arm is the style with the old coil in the base; the current one is probably a replacement part from sometime in the past. The right side of the backboard flare has been replaced. The top box is marked with a metal tag. The arrestor is correct and the bells are dirty brass. The transmitter is marked and correct for the phone; the arm is cast iron with the coil in the base. The mouthpiece is a repro, and the cord is old. Inside, the five bar magneto rings at the turn of the crank. Both the switch hook and the ringer are unmarked and correct for the phone. There are no batteries in the box.

Item 2915 is an oak Williams Doublebox telephone; the wood is in fair condition, and the finish is in poor condition. 

Please reference the following issues on the pictures provided:
• 1 divot on the lower left side of the top box backboard
• 1 patched hole on the left side of the backboard under the transmitter arm
• 1 split on the lower edge of the topbox backboard
• 1 split down the entire length of battery box on a glue line
• See patched hole at the top center of the backboard

Exterior: The box is correct, and it has a porcelain tag (with a chip on the lower edge) marked "Williams". The bells are Brass. 

Receiver & Transmitter: The receiver is marked "American Telegraph & Telephone" on the cap, old, and correct for the phone. There is 1 crack 1+ inch long around the cap. The transmitter is marked "Williams"; the transmitter arm is correct with external terminals. The mouthpiece is old (see picture of chip), and the cord is new. 

Interior: Inside, the 3 bar magneto is marked "Williams", and phone will ring at the turn of the crank. Both the switch hook and the ringer are unmarked, old, and correct for the phone. There are no batteries in the box.
